Rev. Dr. Joseph Bryant, Jr. has been the incredible visionary, stellar communicator and life-changing leader of the Calvary Hill Community Church since 1996. Called to the pastorate of the Calvary Hill Community Church at the tender age of 26, this uniquely gifted leader transformed an aging, traditional congregation into a thriving, multi-generation hub of spiritual power that has had an incredible impact on the lives of countless thousands. Dr. Bryant also serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Calvary Hill Social Services, overseeing corporate partnerships, civic collaborations and community programs in education, job training, health services and family services. He is the Director of the Calvary Hill Christian Leadership School, an extension program through Gateway (formerly Golden Gate) Theological Seminary which offers a Diploma in Christian Ministry.
Dr. Bryant is the National Sports Director for Rev. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, organizing events and engagements with athletes, sports media as well as the NFL, NBA, NCAA and Major League Baseball. He is also Executive Director of PUSHTECH 2020 Silicon Valley Diversity Project, assisting in the development of strategic partnerships, pipelines and access to opportunities within the tech space. Dr. Bryant helped create the SPORTSTECH & FAITHTECH programs within the PUSHTECH 2020 platform as specific initiatives to help bridge the digital divide. In 2016, Dr. Bryant was featured in USA Today as a pioneer in leading churches in the development of Faith and Technology Programs through collaborations with multiple Silicon Valley Companies. In 2018, he was named as one of the Top 10 Champions of Diversity by Global Diversity Magazine for his influence and impact in the Sports Industry, Faith Community and Youth Empowerment through Technology.
Since 1999, Dr. Bryant has served as a life coach, business advisor and spiritual mentor to professional sports organizations, athletes and their families. Known to many in the athletic world as “The Players Pastor”, Dr. Bryant offers confidential Life Management services and assistance in developing a PERSONAL GAME PLAN for success. He is the Executive Director of The K.I.N.G. Movement, a National Men’s organization founded by NBA Analyst Chris Broussard to empower men to fulfil their God-given in every realm of life, and he also serves as Mr. Broussard’s personal Business Manager.
Dr. Bryant is the Founder of PROSPEAK Sports Management and Speaker Bureau, which are utilized to assist athletes and other high level professionals provide inspiration, impact and influence in underserved communities, maximizing their platform for the greater good. He is the founder of JBM/Good News Today, a non-profit organization that provides GOOD NEWS YOU CAN USE through ministry, radio and social networking venues. He is also the Founder of JB Consulting and Good News Services, community based enterprises that provides executive coaching, strategic planning, community organizing and social empowerment. These vehicles also provide clients with various avenues of engagement and partnerships with both local and national agencies, vision assessment and implementation as well as entrepreneurial start-up assistance and collaboration. Dr. Bryant is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) in Sociology, holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Patten Christian College, a Masters of Theological Studies (M.T.S) from Golden Gate Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree (D. Min) from St. Thomas Christian University. He is the author of two books; It’s Work, But It’s Worth It, a marriage study guide, and Family Matters: Encouraging Healthy People and Happy Families.
Dr. Bryant values above all else his wonderful family: his wife, Kelly and their two children, Josiah Christopher and Joi Christina. They are the joy of his heart and share a wonderful life in the San Francisco Bay Area.
